Michael Bloemeke is an award-winning magician, born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina, who performs close-up magic and stand-up magic shows for corporate events, holiday parties, weddings, and private parties. In 2025 he represented the USA at the FISM World Championship of Magic in Turin, Italy, often called the Olympics of Magic, where he won Most Original Act. He has been featured on The CW’s Masters of Illusion and has 400+ five-star Google reviews. His magic has taken him all over the world. Most recently, he was a featured performer at the Shanghai International Magic Festival, the largest convention in China.
Michael performs two styles of magic. Close-up magic, also called strolling, walk-around, or mingling magic, is magic that comes to your guests instead of asking them to sit down and watch. Michael moves through the event from group to group, and the magic happens a few feet from their faces, often in their own hands. It is also extremely interactive; guests will take part in the magic and end up laughing and talking with each other, which makes it a perfect icebreaker for cocktail hours and receptions.
Michael’s Stand-Up Show is his full magic show, a mix of magic, mind reading, and comedy performed at the front of the room for a seated audience. It is very interactive; the audience is involved throughout the entire show, whether they are joining in from their seats or being brought up on stage to help with the magic. While the standard show runs about 50 minutes, the length can be adjusted to fit the event’s schedule.
Each style stands on its own, and the two also work very well together. At many corporate events and holiday parties, the night starts with a cocktail-hour reception where Michael walks around performing close-up magic, and afterward he performs the show for everybody at once. The close-up magic warms the room up, so by the time the show starts, the energy is already high.
Michael doesn’t take himself too seriously, and his shows are full of comedy and audience interaction alongside the magic. The humor is sarcastic, self-deprecating, and tongue-in-cheek, and everything is clean and appropriate for all ages and all HR departments. He loves making VIPs like the guest of honor or the CEO the star of the show, and his number one priority is making sure everybody in the room is having a great time.
Michael has performed for companies and organizations including SAS, Duke University, NC State University, Merrill Lynch, Park Hotels & Resorts, Renaissance Hotels, Clayton Homes, Bon Secours, Glen Raven, CData Software, iQor, and Wells Global, at venues including the Renaissance Raleigh North Hills, the Hilton Garden Inn Raleigh-Cary, The Durham Hotel, Raleigh Country Club, Primland Resort, and Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden.
Based in Raleigh, Michael performs throughout the Triangle, including Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Cary, Apex, and Morrisville, and all across North Carolina, from Charlotte, Greensboro, and Winston-Salem to Pinehurst, Wilmington, and Asheville. He also travels for events across the country. He carries liability insurance and can send a certificate of insurance straight to the venue.
